Miss Universe Organizers Eyes Vietnam for 2008 Pageant

The President of the Miss Universe Organization, Paula Mary Shugart is scheduled to visit Vietnam from August 8-10 to scout destinations for the 2008 Miss Universe contest, according to the Advertising and Trade Fair Joint Stock Company (CIAT), which is the Miss Universe Organization’s Vietnamese partner.

 

Shugart will be accompanied by a vice president and four other pageant officials and plans to tour the Vinpearl resort in the central coastal city of Nha Trang, the resort central highlands city of Dalat, and the capital city of Hanoi.

 

CIAT unveiled that Vietnam’s recent successes in hosting a series of major regional and international events, including the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders' meeting, put the country on the Miss Universe's shortlist for next year.

 

Other countries including Spain, Japan and the United Arab of Emirates (UAE) are also running to host the event, one of the five biggest and most prestigious beauty contests in the world. (VNA)
