The U.S to Remain as Vietnamese Woodworks' Biggest Importer

The U.S. will continue to be the biggest importer of Vietnamese woodworks this year with total revenue being forecast to climb by 29 per cent on year to US$950 million, website of the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported.
 
This year, Vietnam expects to increase its total revenue from woodwork exports to between US$2.2 billion and US$2.5 billion, up from US$1.93 billion.
 
In the first eight months, the country earned nearly US$1.5 billion from woodwork exports, to which the U.S. contributed US$590.4 million, up 26.5 per cent compared with that of last year.
 
According to recent figures provided by the General Customs House, Vietnam shipped US$508.3 million worth of woodworks to the U.S., up 27.6 per cent on year, with nearly half of which coming from inferior wooden furniture.
 
Last year, the U.S. imported US$744 million woodworks from Vietnam while EU countries buy US$500 million and Japan US$286 million. (www.vinanet.com.vn)
