The Honour Ceremony of "Typical Vietnamese Entrepreneurs 2007"

The award ceremony for 100 Vietnamese entrepreneurs 2007 is scheduled to be held on October 11 in the National Meeting Centre. This is the second time the prize ceremony for entrepreneurs will be organised, based on the project selecting exceptional Vietnamese entrepreneurs approved by the Prime Minister in official dispatch No.279/VPCP- TCCB on June 2, 2005.
 
The “Typical Vietnamese Entrepreneur” title is an honour from the Vietnam Business Community for business managers with excellent achievements at all activities related to the construction and development of the business and significant contribution to the socio-economic development of the country and the improvement of employees’ living standard. This is an award for enterprises introduced by industries, bodies and the community, the first prize of comprehensive and national standard. The prize shows the society’s acknowledgement to entrepreneurs, and honoured their great contribution to the socio-economic development of the country.
 
The award will be offered to chairmen, general directors and directors of economic groups, corporations, joint stock companies, limited liability companies, business owners, cooperative heads and FDI businesses in all economic sectors, which have operated in accordance with Vietnamese laws.
 
According to the organisation board, businesses which have entrepreneurs selected must be legal entities, with this year’s economic growth higher than the previous year. Annual revenue must increase 10 per cent or more on year as for large-scale businesses, and over 20 per cent as for small or medium-scaled companies. Export turnover, profit and payment to budget must rise between 10 per cent and 20 per cent. Businesses have to focus on innovating technology devices, producing new products and services, investing in technology, equipment, devices to protect workers and the environment; and participating in organising the Party, unions and public organisations. They are also required to have outstanding progress and sustainable development compared with other enterprises in the same sector.
 
Nominated entrepreneurs must be holding business leader positions for three consecutive years or more, must be active and creative in business management, enterprising, responsible and technically innovative with new technology application and high economic efficiency. They have to always train and nourish managing competence for themselves and other officials, pay attention to training followers, and technical officials. In addition, these entrepreneurs must be proactive, investing in equipment for enterprise; and prestigious and effective in their business. They have to fulfil other social responsibilities with workers; comply with the Party’s policies and the state’s laws, regulations and rules in their offices, and be awarded with certificates of merit. At the same time, awarded entrepreneurs will be reselected three years later.
 
Mr Tran Thi Thuy - VCCI Vice Chairman said the national steering committee approving “Typical Vietnamese entrepreneurs 2007” title was set up, with representatives of domestic units such as VCCI leaders, the government office, the central emulation and reward section, Vietnam Labour General Union. Attending the committee are representatives from two international organisations including the International Trade Chamber (representing international business community and entrepreneurs) and International Labour Organisation (ILO). Therefore, “Typical Vietnamese entrepreneurs 2007” is a national prize, but with international significance.
