Domestic Electronic Market Forecast to Rise 25 per cent Next Year-GfK
Vietnam’s electronic market value is forecast to have reached around US$3.9 billion next year, up 25 per cent on year thanks to growing demand for electronic products, according to a research from GfK Vietnam released October 25.
“The value could hit US$3.1 billion in 2007, up 29 per cent on year,” GfK Vietnam predicted.
Vietnamese consumers will buy around 6 million mobile phones valued at about US$1 billion this year and the figure is expected to climb to US$1.123 billion next year, it noted.
Between January and September, mobile phones sale value was estimated to reach US$910 million, up 29 per cent on-year.
The sale value of home appliances and customer electronic products are projected to rise to US$772 million and US$641 billion, respectively this year.
GfK Vietnam conducted the research on sales of 26 electronic items mainly in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi from August to September 2007, which were classified into five groups: customer electronics, home appliances, telecommunications, IT and cameras.
Vietnam expects export revenues of electronic items of US$5 billion by 2010, becoming one of the key sectors in the country’s total export revenue in the coming years. (Youth, Thanh Nien Daily)
