Vietnam to Fulfill Rice Exports Target of 2007's in October
Vietnam will likely fulfill its rice export revenue target of the year by the end of October, the Ministries of Industry and Trade and Agriculture and Rural Development said Wednesday.
This year, Vietnam has set the target of shipping abroad 4.5 million metric tons of rice and is expected to gain $1.48 billion, the ministries said.
Between January and September, Vietnam exported the total volume of four million metric tons, and 200,000 tons in the first half of October alone, the ministries noted.
The figures showed on year decrease of 1.5 per cent in volume but increase of 19 per cent in value thanks to high export prices, which soared by 17 per cent or $42 a ton from a year earlier.
Vietnam exported 5.1 million tons of rice worth $1.154 billion last year. (Vietnam Economic Times)
