Vietnam Reports 11-Month Retail Sales Up 22.9 per cent On-year to US$4 Bln
Total retail sales of goods and services across Vietnam are estimated at VND654.9 trillion (US$41 billion) in the first eleven months this year, an on year increase of 22.9 per cent, General Statistics Office (GSO) reported.
The private sector saw the fastest sale growth at 29.7 per cent on year at VND187.5 trillion, or 28.6 per cent of the total retails value.
The individual economic sector was the biggest seller with total revenues of VND370.4 trillion, or 56.6 per cent of total, increasing 26.3 per cent on year.
The foreign-invested sector saw the sale growth of 21.2 per cent on year to VND19.7 trillion, contributing to 3 per cent of total revenues, and the collective sector soared 18.7 per cent to VND6.4 trillion, or only 1 per cent of the total.
Revenues from the state-owned sector fell 3.4 per cent at VND62 trillion, making 10.8 per cent to total sales.
Between January and November, the trade sector was the biggest seller with total revenue of VND528.2 trillion, up 21.9 per cent on-year; followed by the hotel and restaurant sector with VND78.3 trillion, up 23 per cent.
Service sector, with retail sales of VND41.1 trillion, is the fastest growing at 34.7 per cent on year, following by tourism sector with the growth of 33.5 per cent at VND7.2 trillion. (GSO Nov 2007)
