Increasing Professionalism in Human Resources Administration
Under the cooperation framework between VCCI-HCM and the Confederation of Norwegian Business and Industry (NHO), VCCI-HCM organised a seminar named “Increasing professionalism of human resources administration and building human resources manager network in Vietnam” which was participated by nearly 80 human resources managers from Vietnamese and foreign-owned companies.
Dr. Teri Traen, director of US-based Traen Consulting Company, introduced the development history of human resources governance in the US. She also pointed out quick change in business climate in the globalisation process and threats to human resources administration. This requires leaders of companies and human resources managers to have long-term visions, professional and flexibility to respond to outside changes. She also introduced information about the human resources manager network in the US. In the speech “Vietnam labour market trends and solutions for human resources managers to tackle labour market challenges,” Ms Pham Thi My Le, General Director of L&A Consulting Company, presented main tendencies of the labour market, highlighting the mobility of opportunities from developed nations to developing ones, and warned the shortage of senior labour sources. Le Thi Kim Anh, director of Dynamic Consulting Company, said human resources managers play crucial role in stabilising and developing human resources for a company. However, to perform their roles, human resources managers should show their positions and prestige before company leaders as well as colleagues.
During the discussion session, attendants shared difficulties in business professionalism. They asked VCCI-HCM to set up a human resources manager network to help concerned managers to exchange information and experience. From experience in Norway, Mr. Lars Berge, Deputy General Director of NHO, said the establishment of a human resources manager network is crucial and VCCI should be a clue for this work. However, he said, to ensure the efficiency and sustainability of the network, apart from assistance from VCCI, members should make significant contributions to the network, including financial and professional contributions.
