Vietnam Sees Australia Potential Seafood Market

Vietnamese seafood exporters are being urged to focus on improving the quality of their products to ship to Australia, which is considered the promising market, the Vietnam & World Economy reported Tuesday.

Australia is currently imposing zero tax on Vietnamese seafood exports, helping the Southeast Asian nation sharpen their products’ competitive edge on the market.

Last year, Vietnam exported more than US$30 million worth of tra catfish to Australia, up 30 per cent on year.

Fisheries analysts recommended that Vietnamese exporters pay more attention to ensuring the quality and hygiene of their exports to Australia, a choosy market, to maintain and raise their market share there.

Currently, 71 Vietnamese seafood companies are allowed to export to Australia, including the Thuan Hung Co. Ltd., the An Giang Fisheries Import-Export Co. and the Vinh Hoan Co. Ltd., which are Vietnam’s leading tra and basa catfish exporters. (VNA, Vietnam & World Economy)
