Vietnam Ranks Third in Shoe Shipment to Chile

Vietnam ranked the third among countries exporting shoes to Chile in 2007, behind China and Brazil, according to Chile’s Shoe Industry Chamber.
 
Last year, Vietnam reportedly sold 1.9 million pairs of shoes to the South American nation with an average price of US$13.7 per pair.
 
Meanwhile, China shipped 55.2 million pairs with average price of US$5.54 a pair and Brazil’s figures were 2.1 million pairs and US$15.4/pair, respectively.
 
In 2007, Chile imported 64 million pairs of shoes. Bata was the biggest shoe exporter to the foreign country in terms of value with US$47 million, followed by Forus US$41.9 million and Nike US$22.8 million.    
 
Chile was much dependent on imported shoes as the country made merely 10 million pairs in the previous year. (Vietnam & World Economy)
