80 per cent of Vietnamese Underwear Market Untapped Professionally
Up to 80 per cent of the Vietnamese underwear market is still being left untapped by professional producers and distributors, both foreign and locally-based, the Investment Bridge weekly magazine reported.
The rich and elegant class people is emerging in Vietnam, said local economic annalists, claiming that only 5 per cent to 12 per cent of Vietnamese people buy their underwear via modern channel like shops and supermarkets.
"We expect to expand our Jockey distribution network by 30 per cent this year", said Tran Van Thanh, director of Kim Son Fashion Co, adding that his company 2007 revenue increased by 40 per cent on year.
Quadrille & Vera Vietnam annual revenue up from 30 per cent to 35 per cent on year for the past few years, said Managing Director Nguyen Thi Hong Trang, hoping for more this year.
Hong Trang forecast that more world famous underwear brand names will flock into Vietnam in the near future and the purchasing power will increase sharply so as the competition. (Investment Bridge)
