Vietnam Exports Building Materials to Over 100 Countries
Vietnam reportedly exported building materials to over 100 countries, mainly to the U.S., Australia, Japan and European nations with a growth rate of 25.7 per cent in 2007, said the Ministry of Construction.
As of February, 220 businesses of this type have received ISO 14001, said the ministry, hoping for more standardized production units in the near future.
The ministry did not disclose the export value, however.
The ministry said with the fast growth rate the sector will complete the set plans for 2010 to exploit mineral resources for building materials and the sector’s plans to 2020.
The ministry is now directing the subordinate agencies to boost the country’s cement production capacity to 40 million tons in 2008 as part of the approved development plan to 2020. It pledged to provide more incentives for the industry.
The ministry said it has completed development plans for nine building material industries without giving further detail. (VNA,
