Japanese Firms Eye Vietnam's Leather & Footwear Sector

A Japanese business delegation has arrived in Ho Chi Minh City to seek investment opportunities in the local leather and footwear industry, the Liberation Saigon reported Wednesday.
 
The enterprises, coming from Hyogo province, have surveyed many leather and footwear production factories in the city.
 
The mission led by Tadahiro Kawano, chairman of Japan’s leather and footwear association, met with Nguyen Trung Tin, vice chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee February 19.
 
As of late 2007, Japan had invested in 918 projects in Vietnam, with the total registered capital of US$8.89 billion, including US$4.98 billion disbursed, ranking third in terms of project number and first in disbursed capital.
