Vietnam to Invest US$1.06 Bln in Upgrading Hospitals
The Vietnamese government has decided to pour up to VND17 trillion (US$1.06 billion) into upgrading district and regional general hospitals from now until 2010, said the Ministry of Health (MoH) June 30.

Hospitals from central Thua Thien Hue province northwards will benefit from the project.

The money will be used to upgrade infrastructure, purchase modern equipment and improve capacity of health workers at sixty-nine regional hospitals and 552 districts general hospitals during the period, said the ministry.

By late 2005, Vietnam had built 1,023 hospitals, of which 95.5 per cent were state-owned, announced the ministry. (New Hanoi)
