Hong Kong Investors to Survey Vietnamese Market
A delegation of 24 leading real estate and shipping businesses from Hong Kong will come to Ho Chi Minh City from February 25 to 28 to study business opportunities, according to Vietnam News Agency.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council will jointly hold a seminar on shipping and real estate on February 26.
The meeting aims to discuss challenges and opportunities for cooperation between the two-country companies in these areas.
Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Hong Kong last year grew sharply by 23.1 per cent to US$3.75 billion despite the global economic downturn, the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s website reported.
Vietnam exported US$998 million worth of commodities to Hong Kong in 2008, up 34.4 per cent on-year and imported up to US$2.76 billion, up 19.4 per cent, resulting in the country’s huge trade deficit of US$1.76 billion during the year.
Hong Kong now stands seventh among foreign investors in Vietnam with 494 projects capitalized at US$6.32 billion. (VNA)
