Presenting Golden Rose Awards to Businesswomen
On the evening of March 7, 2009, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWUCC) and the Vietnam Television (VTV) presented Golden Rose Awards 2008 to 36 outstanding businesswomen.
Awardees have reportedly made considerable contributions to the country’s socioeconomic development and the business community development.
The criteria to select outstanding women are divided into two groups: individual and collective successes. Each criteria group has sub-criteria mainly based on contributions to the national socioeconomic development. Ms Tran Thi Thuy, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Businesswomen Council, said: Social responsibility weighs on this year’s score.
The objectives of the awarding are to honour the quality and beauty of the Vietnamese people: doing both social and household works well. This programme stimulates the business community in general and businesswomen in particular to make greater contributions to the social, cultural and economic development in the renovation process. Mr Pham Gia Tuc, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of VCCI, said: Action plans of the Vietnam Businesswomen Council have many vocational supporting programmes for women-centred enterprises.
According to businesswomen, the award is a strong encouragement. Routinely, women do more work than men: both business affairs and housework. Thus, it is very meaningful to advance women to take part in more social and economic activities.
