Saigon Hi-tech Park has attracted 35 local and foreign projects with a total investment of US$1.6 billion after its six years operation, said head of the park management board Nguyen Dinh Mai.

Among those, eight projects have become operational, bringing export revenues of US$33 million last year and generating 8,000 jobs, Mai said.

The park is now home to many big investors such as Intel and Jabil from the U.S., Sonion from Denmark and Nidec from Japan.

Separately, the Vietnamese government approved an increase in the state budget support to develop the park’s infrastructure, state media reported.

Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance will collaborate with the Department of Planning and Investment and the Saigon Hi-tech Park Management Board to receive an advance of VND 130 billion in 2010 for the development. (Investment)
