Vietnam's Largest Tourism Hub Targets 3 Mln Int'l Tourists in 2009
HCM City, the largest tourism hub of Vietnam, has target to welcome three million international tourist arrivals this year, up 7 per cent over 2008.
The city also aims for tourism revenues of VND34 trillion (US$2 billion) this year.
Key tourism markets of the city now include Japan, Australia, ASEAN, France, Western Europe, and the Republic of Korea.
The municipal tourism department has worked out measures to lure more international arrivals including tourism promotion programs and organization of festivals.
Currently, HCM City has highest number of luxury hotels in Vietnam with more than 150 hotels, including ten five-star hotels. The city also reports 304 travel companies, including 120 licensed to provide outbound tours.
The number of international tourists to Ho Chi Minh City now accounts for 55 per cent of Vietnam’s total number. (HCM City Law)
