Thirteen Vietnamese companies are taking part in the 16th Moscow International Travel and Tourism Exhibition (MITT) in Russia from March 18-21.

The event which draws 3,000 travel businesses worldwide creates chances for countries and enterprises to exchange experience and seek partners.

Despite the global economic crisis, Vietnamese companies still come to the event as Russia is a potential market for Vietnam’s tourism sector, head of the Vietnamese delegation to the MITT-16 Ho Hong Lien, who is also expert from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said.

Russian tourists spent more money on luxury services in Vietnam than other foreign visitors. Their spending money is about 40 per cent higher than the overall average of US$800 per person during their stay in the country, VNAT added.

Russia now ranks 15th among Vietnam's tourism markets with travel companies such as Saigontourist and Ben Thanh Tourist receiving the largest numbers of Russian visitors.

Last year, Vietnam welcomed around 70,000 Russian tourist arrivals. The country targets to greet around 100,000 Russia visitors this year. (Vietnam & World Economy)
