Vietnam-China Economic, Trade Zone to Take Shape in Haiphong

Vietnam will create incentives for construction of the Vietnam-China economic and trade zone worth US$4 billion in the northern port city of Haiphong, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung during his two-day visit to Chinese province of Guangdong province from April 18-19.
 
China is Vietnam’s leading trade and investment partner, highlighted the PM during the Vietnam-China Business Forum, held in Guangzhou city April 19, adding that businesses from the two nations will continue to effectively cooperate on many projects.
 
At the forum, the two sides also agreed to boost bilateral trade to US$25 billion in 2010, including US$5 billion with Guangdong.
 
The PM also witnessed the signing of some cooperation agreements between Guangdong and the Vietnamese Ministries of Planning and Investment, and Industry and Trade.
 
Guangdong and Vietnam will further cooperate in the spirit of equality and mutual benefit, utilize advantages, expand two-way trade, promote investment cooperation, and speed up the progress of ongoing cooperation projects, said Wang Yang, a politburo member of the Chinese Communist Party’s Central Committee cum the Guangdong Party Chief.
