Vietnam Hanoi Licenses US$42M FDI in Q1, Down 17 per cent On Year

Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi licensed 60 new foreign direct investment (FDI) projects worth a total registered capital of US$42 million in the first quarter of this year, down 17 per cent and up to 93 per cent in the project number and capital value on-year.
 
In March, the city attracted 43 fresh FDI projects valued at US$31 million and allowed six existing projects to raise their capital by US$9 million.
 
During the three-month period, the city’s non-state sector posted growth rate of 20 per cent compared to the same phase of 2008.
 
Hanoi has targeted among the country’s top five localities in luring FDI with some US$2 billion-US$3 billion this year, the municipal Department for Planning and Investment said. (Hanoinet)
