The sixth annual Asia Pacific Telecommunity (APT) Wireless Forum (AWF-6) opened on March 31 in the central city of Danang, attracting 200 participants from 30 countries.

The four-day forum’s agenda focuses on advanced wireless technologies and services, technological solutions towards digital convergence and management of frequency.

This year’s forum pays special attention to meeting the high demand of wide bandwidth wireless services around the world and in Vietnam, with the participation of international telecom operators and producers like Ericsson, Intel and Qualcomm.

AWF-6, which lasts until April 3, also focuses on digitalization towards fixed and mobile services.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) will share experiences on frequency control with the aim of harmonizing frequency management policies among countries in the region.

Vietnam is facing difficulties in developing the fixed wide bandwidth wireless services in big cities due to lack of infrastructure although these services will be the future of the telecommunications sector, said Le Nam Thang, deputy minister of MIC. (VNA, STD)
