The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) has carried out many activities to honour businesswomen’s contributions and helped their business. This has made remarkable contributions to affirm businesswomen’s roles in the society.
Besides offering assistance for woman-led businesses, the VCCI has paid special attention to businesswomen via a series of programmes. The VCCI set up a Vietnam Businesswomen Council to help women share business experience. Over the past seven years, the council has actively played a key part in expanding the network of female entrepreneurs across the country. The council joined hands with the VCCI and concerned agencies to hold Global Summit of Women 2008. Particularly, annual “Golden Rose” prize for 36 businesswomen is a meaningful event to honour women’s business successes. The prize is jointly organised by the Vietnam Businesswomen Council and Central Vietnam Women’s Union. This year is the fourth year that the prize is held to praise women who are not only good at housework but also business activities. Additionally, the council has organised many conferences and training courses as well as market surveys in foreign countries for female entrepreneurs.

This year, the council will continue its activities to give more support for women. It will also enhance women’s operation in localities, especially those in remove areas. The body will cooperate with people’s committee of cities and provinces to establish business associations. Furthermore, the council has done more to assist for women to start business.

Many businesswomen said in addition to support from the council and the VCCI, it is important for them to high determination, sympathy, kindness and good heart. A female leader should care about staffs’ life and have an inquiring mind. She should also be modest and always improve her knowledge of business and management to obtain successes.

In reality, image of Vietnamese businesswomen is not only recognised inside the country but also in the world. Vietnam is an Asian country with high rate of female national assembly delegates of 25 per cent. The rate of women-managed enterprises is 25 per cent as well. Vietnam has took part in the Global Summit of Women three times with the first time in South Korea, the second in Egypt and the third in Germany with the participation of 17 local women, 40 and 70 respectively. Vietnamese women actively raise their voice at these summits.
