EU Tops FDI Disbursement in Vietnam

European Union has to date disbursed some US$7 billion of its total pledged investment capital of US$11.8 billion in Vietnam, topping FDI disbursement in the country, said Ambassador Sean Doyle, Head of the EC delegation to Vietnam.
 
The official said that this affirmed EU firms’ confidence in Vietnam despite the global economic downturn.
 
To date, 20 out of 27 EU member countries have so far invested in 798 projects in Vietnam worth US$11.8 billion.
 
The projects focus on various fields such as oil and gas, power, water, infrastructure construction, telecom, and farm produce and food processing.
 
Many EU’s leading investors operating in Vietnam include BP of the U.K., Shell Group of Holland and the U.K., Total Elf Fina and France Telecom of France, and Seimens of Gemany. (Industry & Trade)
