Dream Incubator Asia Industrial Fund Set up in Vietnam
At a workshop on “Opportunities to cooperate with Japanese businesses” recently held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Japan’s Dream Incubator Inc. (DI), the organising board has announced to set up the Dream Incubator Asia Industrial Fund in Vietnam.
Dream Incubator Asia Industrial Fund (DIAIF), developed by Japan-based Dream Incubator Inc. (DI) and Cayman Island-based Orix Corporation, will help Vietnamese businesses seek new partnership and access Japanese capital sources, up-to-date technology and management skills. The fund will focus on a wide range of industries like food processing, spice, essential goods, retailing, commerce, advertisement and others.
This is the largest Japanese fund in Vietnam so far. With a total investment capital of USUS$50-100 million, the fund is expected to start operations in late July and early August 2009.
Initially, DIAIF will support Vietnamese enterprises operating in the fields of exportation and import alternative production.
Mr Doan Duy Khuong, VCCI Vice President said, in the current context the presence of DI in Vietnam offered a good chance for Vietnamese businesses to increase exchanges and seek opportunities for cooperation.
The Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement will take effect in October 2009. Under the deal, Japan has pledged to exempt or slash taxes on more than 90 per cent of goods imported from Vietnam.
