Green Business in Vietnam Tops Agenda of Green Biz 2009
Discussions on the green business development in Vietnam, including investment in clean energy sources, the management of sustainable water sources and businesses’ social responsibilities topped on the agenda of “Green Biz 2009” opened in Hanoi on September 17.
The two-day conference entitled “Green Biz 2009 – Europe’s green business methods for Vietnam” was co-chaired by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham).
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said the Vietnamese government encourages cooperation between local firms and foreign partners, including European Union, to develop green technologies.
Hai said Vietnam is among the nations hardest hit by climate change and rising sea levels, therefore, environmental protection is the local government’s top priority.
Chairman of EuroCham in Vietnam Alain Cany said the initiatives proposed at the conference will help Vietnam conduct research into the environmental challenges it faces in the fields of energy, water supplies, transportation and construction.
The EU’s best solutions and practices are expected to support Vietnam’s efforts to turn itself into a green country in the future, Cany added.
On this occasion, 50 leading European green technologies developers participated in an exhibition to promote their environmentally friendly business methods. (VNA, Labor)
