HCM City Welcomes 1.9M Int’l Tourists in Jan-Sept, Down 10% On-Year
HCM City is estimated to have welcomed 1.9 million foreign visitors in the first nine months of this year, a decrease of 10% from a year earlier, the state-run Tuoi Tre newspaper reported.
The fall in international tourist arrivals are attributed to the global economic slowdown and A/H1N1 flu epidemic.
The city has target revenues of VND34 trillion ($1.9 billion) from the tourism sector and to welcome 3.3 million international tourist arrivals in 2009, up 10% and 7%, respectively.
The number of international tourists to HCM City now accounts for 55% of Vietnam’s total number. (Youth)
