Vietnam Imports US$213.4M Goods from U.K. in Jan-Aug

Vietnam imported US$213.4 million worth of goods from the U.K. in the first eight months of 2009, down 29% from a year earlier.
 
The country spent US$59.94 million on machines, equipment and spare parts from the U.K. during the period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.
 
Pharmaceuticals and chemical products followed with respective figures of US$30.65 million and US$13.13 million, the ministry said.
 
At present, the U.K. is one of Vietnam’s important trade partners from the EU and is among Vietnam’s top ten export markets.
 
Trade between Vietnam and the U.K. is expected to reach US$3 billion in the next years from US$1.9 billion in 2008. (Vinanet)
