Vietnam Banks Make VND412.1T in Subsidized Loans So Far

Banks and financial companies in Vietnam boosted subsidized loans to VND412.1 trillion ($23.08 billion) as of Oct 22 under the government’s first stimulus package worth $1 billion, according to the State Bank of Vietnam, the country’s central bank.
 
In the week ending on Oct 22, they added VND1.483 trillion to the domestic economy, up 0.36% from a week earlier, it added.
 
Local lawmakers agreed late last week to stop the package as the end of 2009 as planned, state media reported. (SBV)
