The Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) plans to funnel between US$150 million and US$300 million in official development assistance (ODA) for the Mekong Delta region.

The funding will go to seafood, post-harvest technology, irrigation works, agricultural and rural development and infrastructure development.

Le Van Minh, director general of the MARD’s international cooperation development department, said ODA now accounts for 50%-60% of the region’s agricultural production’s total investment.

Vietnam will need from US$2 billion to US$2.25 billion for agricultural development in 2010-2015 period, an increase of 1.5 folds against the previous five years’ figure, Minh added. (Investment)
