Yen Phong Industrial Park is invested by VIGLACERA Corporation according to the Decision No. 303/TTg–CN dated February 20, 2006 of the Prime Minister. The construction was kicked off in March 2006. The green and multi-sector Yen Phong Industrial Park, located in Yen Phong district, Bac Ninh province, is now housing electronics, pharmaceutical, light industry, consumer goods and mechanical projects.
The first phase of the Yen Phong Industrial Park, covering 340 ha, requires a total investment capital of nearly VND1,000 billion (nearly US$60 million). The industrial zone has a modern traffic system and sufficient supporting services and utilities like finance, banking, telecom and accommodation. To date, VIGLACERA has leased 75 percent of the area of the first phase area to 25 investors, including world-leading firms like Samsung Electronics of South Korea, Orion Food Vina Co., Ltd of South Korea and NYK Logistics of Japan.
To ensure labour supply for companies in the industry, in September 2009, VIGLACERA completed and transferred a worker apartment building in Yen Phong Industrial Park. This is considered the most modern worker accommodation in northern Vietnam.
In October 2009, Samsung Electronics inaugurated the world’s largest cell phone plant in the Yen Phong Industrial Park. The nearly US$700 million plant will turn out 100 million projects a year for global markets. This is Samsung’s seventh mobile phone plant in the world.
To deal with environmental pollution, on October 28, 2009, VIGLACERA started construction on a wastewater treatment facility in the industrial park with a daily capacity of 2,000 cubic metres. This is the last item to make Yen Phong Industrial Park the most modern and synchronous industrial park in the northern region of Vietnam.
To welcome more new investors, VIGLACERA will expand the Yen Phong Industrial Park by starting the second phase with 320 ha of land to be developed, raising the total area to 660 ha.
