Vietnam Exports $1.35B of Shrimp in Jan-Oct, up 7.4% On-Year

Vietnam exported 170,283 tons of shrimp valued at $1.35 billion worth of from in the first ten months of 2009, up 7.4% in both value and volume against the same period of last year, the General Customs Department said.
 
Of the total, the country exported 33,689 tons to EU bloc, earning $228.4 million, up 22% and 15%, respectively, from a year earlier, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) said.
 
Meanwhile, shrimp export to Japan decreased 4.5% in volume and 2.8% in value; and to the U.S. decreased 6.2% in volume and 15.3% in value, the VASEP added, but did not give more details. (Vasep)
