Japanese Biz Keen on Vietnam Retail Market
Many Japanese firms are interested in the retail market in Vietnam, according to the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
Dozens of Japanese businesses have sought JETRO’s advices on setting up retail companies in Vietnam as consumption expenditure in Ho Chi Minh City and the neighboring provinces is on the rise, Chief of JETRO’s representative office in Ho Chi Minh Kitashima Satoshi
This year Vietnam’s total retail sales and services revenue is forecast to increase between 18% and 20% from VND968.067 trillion ($54.15 billion) last year, General Secretary Dinh Thi My Loan of the Vietnam Retailers Association said.
The figure will reach $85 billion in 2012, she added.
Japan ranked the fourth among foreign investors in Vietnam with 1,154 projects with total registered capital of $17.69 billion as of October 20, 2009. (Young People, VIR)
