IFC Survey: 83% of Companies Say to Expand Operations in Vietnam in Next 3 Yrs
More than 83% of the 291 businesses said they plan to expand expansion in Vietnam in the three years to come, showed a survey by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a private arm of the World Bank.
The survey was released at the Vietnam Business Forum in Hanoi on December 1 on the threshold of the Consultative Group (CG) Meeting scheduled to open in the capital city on December 3-4.
The survey showed that nearly two thirds of the businesses surveyed are upbeat about the country’s economic growth in the coming year while 80.2% believe in the national economic recovery.
However, up to 95% of the firms agreed that infrastructure is the biggest barrier in the Vietnamese business environment and many still complained about the country’s complicated administrative procedures, according to the survey.
At the forum, EuroCham Chairman Alain Cany said Vietnam needs to mobilize long term capital from foreign sources to ensure economic development.
Meanwhile, foreign investors expressed impatience about tardiness in the equitization process of telecom companies. They also called for reviewing the implementation of WTO commitments by Vietnam. (Investment)
