Spain to Fund Metro Projects in Southern Vietnam
Spain will fund the construction of metro systems in Ho Chi Minh City under an agreement signed at a meeting in Madrid on December 15 during Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet’s visit to the country.
Under the agreement inked between Spanish Industry Minister Miguel Sebastian and Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem, the two countries will set up a working group to carry out metro projects.
At the meeting, Vietnam and Spain also signed a deal for the development of three projects related to water treatment and management.
The two countries also agreed to extend their cooperation in the construction of bridge, radio and television stations and wind-to-power plants.
In a recent interview with Vietnamese Dau Tu newspaper, Spanish Ambassador to Vietnam Fernando Curcio said an influx of Spanish companies is looking for investment opportunities in Vietnam, particularly under the forms of joint ventures, technology transfers or green-field projects. (Labor)
