44% of Young Workers in Vietnam Urban Areas Untrained: Survey
More than 44% of the Vietnamese young workers in urban areas and over 70% of those in rural areas have not been untrained, a recent survey from the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) showed.
Domestic and foreign enterprises often complain that they hardly recruit enough workers for production, as their skills are too low, the survey released.
In Hanoi, there are between 35,000 and 45,000 workers enter the labor market annually. However, only 25,000 of them get jobs, according to the MoLISA survey.
If the country does not timely work out measures to deal with the situation, the number of unemployed laborers aged 15-19 will increase, the ministry warned.
Vietnam's population is young with 60% aging less than 25. Over one million young people need to be trained for work every year. (New Hanoi)
