Belgium Takes Lead in Importing Vietnamese Coffee in Jan-Oct
Belgium was the biggest importer of Vietnamese coffee in the first ten months of 2009 with total volume of 123,786 tons worth US$179 million, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The figures showed on year rises of 171.32% in volume and 85.56% in value, the Vinanet.vn website run by the ministry reported.
Germany ranked the second with a volume of 105,429 tons valued at US$156.409 million in Jan-Oct 2009, making rise of 3.92% in volume but decrease of 27.2% in value against the same period of last year.
It was followed by the U.S. with 97,477 tons valued at US$147.828 million, an increase of 24.07% in volume but down 9.55% in value.
The General Customs Department showed that Vietnam, the world’s biggest robusta coffee exporter, shipped 942,000 tons of coffee in Jan-Oct 2009, earning US$1.39 billion, up 17.4% in volume but down 17.1% in value against the same period of last year. (Vinanet)
