Japanese Businesses Eye on Investment in Vietnam

Vietnamese Embassy and the Japan-Vietnam Cultural and Economic Committee under the International Friendship Exchange Council (FEC) held a seminar in Tokyo on Feb.2 to boost investment ties between two countries.
 
The seminar attracted 60 Japanese companies working in Vietnam or showing its interests in the market, the government said on its website.
 
At the seminar, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Nguyen Phu Binh called on Japanese companies to boost investment in Vietnam.
 
Deputy President of the Japan-Vietnam Cultural and Economic Committee Hiroyuki Yushita said that Japan always considered Vietnam as an attractive destination and he also called on local enterprises to boost investment in the Southeast Asian country.
 
Also at the meeting, Japanese firms said that they kept an eye on Vietnam and hoped to understand economic situation, especially investment policies in the market.
 
FEC plans to send a business delegation to Vietnam to survey socio-economic and education industry in the Southeast Asian country in the coming time, helping its businesses gain opportunities to seek investment in the market.
 
Currently, Japan is Vietnam’s biggest donor and one of the leading investors in the Southeast Asian country.
 
Japan ranked the fourth among foreign investors in Vietnam with 1,154 projects with total registered capital of $17.69 billion as of October 20, 2009. (www.chinhphu.vn)
