Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet urged Czech companies to invest in the Southeast Asian country at a meeting with Karel Pleva, chairman and CEO of the Export Guarantee and Insurance Corporation (EGAP) of the Czech Republic in Hanoi February 4.

Triet highly appreciated EGAP’s projects in Vietnam and said it is right time to enter as the country is making efforts for investment environment improvement and finalize its legal system to attract more foreign investors.

CEO Pleva briefed the president of a number of EGAP’s projects in Vietnam, including Phu Son Cement Plant, Hanoi-Hai Phong Expressway and Quang Binh Clay Production Plant.

By mid-December last year, Czech companies invested US$50.46 million in 16 projects in Vietnam.

Trade between Vietnam and the Czech Republic surged 27.18% from a year earlier to US$365 million last year. (VNS)
