More Vietnam Corps, Groups to Operate as Limited Companies
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has signed a decision to allow 15 more state-owned economic corporations and groups to operate as limited companies after they fail to complete equitization prior to July 1 this year.
The firms include Vietnam Cement Industry Corp (Vicem), Vietnam Railway Corporation, Vietnam National Textile Garment Group (Vinatex), Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN), Song Da Group, Hud Holdings, the Military Telecoms Group (Viettel), Southern Food Corporation (VinaFood II) and the Vietnam National Coffee Corporation (Vinacafe).
Six others comprise Vietnam Rubber Group (VRG), Northern Food Corporation (Vinafood I), Vietnam Paper Corporation (Vinapaco), Vinashin Business Group, Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines) and Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin).
Earlier, the PM agreed to turn Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), Vietnam National Tobacco Corporation (Vinataba) and Vietnam Airlines into limited companies.
As the Law on Stated-owned Enterprises will expire on July 1 in line with Vietnam’s WTO commitments, as many as 1,500 SOEs will be transformed into limited companies. (chinhphu.vn)
