Vietnam Sets up Steering Board for Rural Development Program
Vietnamese prime minister has decided to set up a central steering board for the development program for rural areas in 2010-2020 period. The board is headed by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat, deputy minister Ho Xuan Hung and deputy head of the government office Van Trong Ly were assigned to the deputy heads of the board.
The board will set up the five-year plan and yearly plans to carry out the program that centers on 11 key pillars.
The program aims to raise the ratio of communes meeting the new national standards for rural areas to 20% in 2015, and 50% in 2020.
A majority of 40% of the total investment for the program will be from the state budget; 30% from local banks while local firms and individuals are expected to contribute 20% and 10%. (chinhphu.vn)
