Vietnam Imports from India +14.1% to US$797.41M in Jan-May

Vietnam’s imports from India rose 14.1% from a year earlier to US$797.41 million in the first five months, including US$142.7 million in May, up 14.7%.
 
Cotton recorded the highest on-year jump of 3,021.1% to US$74.04 million, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.
 
The Southeast Asian nation’s other main imports were animal feed worth US$192.79 million, down 17.5% on-year, pharmaceuticals worth US$68.12 million, up 24.7% and metals worth US$58.39 million, up 164.4%.
 
Trade between Vietnam and India soared 36% from a year earlier to US$1.11 billion in the five-month period, including the Southeast Asian country’s trade deficit of US$481 million.
 
The two-way trade is forecast to reach US$3 billion in 2010 and US$5 billion in 2012 from US$2.05 billion in 2009. (Vinanet)
