Vietnam Using Japanese ODA Effectively, PM Dung Says
Vietnamese government has been effectively using the official development assistance (ODA) from Japan over the years, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said.
Dung made the statement at a reception Nakamura Hirohiko, President of the Special Committee on ODA of the National Diet of Japan in Hanoi on Dec 20.
The Japanese funding will not only help socio-economic development in Vietnam, but also boost investment and trade ties between the two countries and bring benefits to enterprises of both sides, Dung added.
The Vietnamese leader also expressed his wish that the two sides will soon accelerate the implementation of reached agreements during Prime Minister Naoto Kan’s visit, including ODA projects and bilateral economic partnership agreement.
Vietnam selected Japan to build its nuclear power plant No. 2, Dung noted, highlighting Japan is preparing capital to help the locality to build social infrastructure compatible with the project.
For his part, Hirohiko affirmed that Japan wants to cooperate with Vietnam in the exploitation of rare earth minerals, teaching of Japanese language and also recruiting nurses to work in Japan.
Dung asked relevant Vietnamese ministries and agencies are coordinating with the Japanese side to build nuclear power plant No. 2 and exploit rare earth minerals in the country.
“Vietnam hopes that Japan will help it conduct pre-feasibility for the Hanoi-Vinh and Ho Chi Minh City-Nha Trang sections on the North-South railway project”, Dung emphasized. (Vietnamplus)
