IMC Hands Gifts to Kids with Fatal Diseases
The International Media Company (IMC) coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital (No. 3 No Trang Long street, ward 7, Binh Thanh district, Ho Chi Minh City) to present gifts to 180 poor children with fatal diseases on May 31, 2013. Each kid was given VND200,000 in cash and a package of gifts in kind, including milk and sweet cakes. The total fund for this charitable deed was VND50 million.
The Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital is one of leading cancer and tumour treatment units in Vietnam. Each year, Vietnam witnesses about 150,000 cases of cancer and 75,000 deaths from cancer. In Ho Chi Minh City, cancer is one of the most common diseases and is rapidly increasing. The incidence of cancers in the city increases 5.4 percent a year on average (2006 -2010). Especially, leukemia or blood cancer is most common among kids from birth to age 14.
