“There is no smooth road to success.” This saying is perhaps very true for Hong Phat Cassava Processing Private Enterprise. During its history, the company has experienced numerous difficulties and challenges related to input materials, labour costs, consumer markets and global recession. Fortunately, the company always finds the right way and shapes a comprehensive vision of the industry. Hence, it has continuously reaped great successes and made huge contributions to local social and economic development.
The company’s plant was officially put into operation in 2005 with an initial daily processing capacity of 60 tonnes. The processing facility was then scaled up to 160 tonnes a day. The product supply has thus increased. To meet the growing demand of the market, Hong Phat has constantly invested in new machinery and equipment, purchased clean water from Dau Tieng Canal for its production process, and kept strict control of quality, from input stage to market supply stage. Therefore, the company always ensures stable productivity and quality. In 2013, it was awarded the Vietnam High-quality Products Certificate. In recent years, in addition to supplying domestic manufacturers of packages, glue, alcohol, food and malt, Hong Phat exports its products to Asia and Eastern Europe, especially China. Presently, about 50 percent of its finished products are for export. The global presence is also a good condition for the company to invest in modern production technology and raise the livelihoods of its labourers.
To enhance operational efficiency and environmental protection, Hong Phat Cassava Processing Private Enterprise boldly applied biogas technology on a large scale to mitigate environmental pollution. This is also an effective solution for users to economise energy and heat dryers. Moreover, biogas leftovers are a source of effective organic fertilisers for crops to raise farming productivity. This is a common trend that many peers are focusing on.
The development of the company is translated into better livelihoods for employees. Corporate culture is evidently reflected with the close and friendly working environment. All statutory employment regulations are strictly observed by the company. In addition to supporting accommodations and meals, the company also established a Trade Union to learn about employees’ proposals and aspirations and protect their legitimate rights and interests. With many practical and effective policies, Hong Phat has built up a strong workforce with broad expertise and ultimate devotion.
Economic slowdown, input shortages, high inventories and other woes have directly affected manioc companies in general and Hong Phat in particular. Hence, the company essentially needs more practical support from the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province, the Government and central agencies, particularly tax breaks and preferential loans. This is the thought and aspirations of businesses, especially since Vietnam entered the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
