Rubber, cassava and sugarcane are increasing incomes of farmers and giving a facelift to the countryside of Tay Ninh province. More importantly, these staples have given rise to the development of processing industries. Truong Hung Co., Ltd is a leading star, not only in business but also in philanthropic activities in Tan Chau in particular and Tay Ninh province in general.
Starting official operation in 1997, Truong Hung invested US$8 million to build a modern technological line capable of processing 200 tonnes a day. To raise operational efficiency and product value, the company has applied ISO 9001:2008 international standards to make highly competitive products for domestic and international markets. With its technological advantages, Truong Hung has exported a lot of its products to many countries like China (accounting for 70 percent of its exports), Japan, the Philippines and Arab countries. The firm is currently is completing HACCP (hazard analysis and critical control points) standards to make inroads into the European market. This is a cornerstone for the company to grow to a new high.

In 2013, facing unstable input supply and rising prices, although the company could purchase input products from Cambodia, the import tariff of 10 percent weakened the company’s competitiveness with Chinese rivals. However, with its inherent potentials and sound policies, the company managed to overcome difficulties and rake in nearly US$100 million in 2012. Truong Hung is now running four factories, namely Truong Thinh, Viet Ma, Wusons and Viet Sing latex plant, each of which has daily capacity of 200 tonnes. This is an advantage for the company’s sustainable development. Specially, Viet Ma and Truong Thinh factories were granted the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Certificate. The company is one of just a few to sell certified emission reductions (CERs), or carbon credits, to foreign partners (Toshiba Corporation of Japan).

Sticking to social corporate responsibility and environmental protection, the company invested US$5 million to build a wastewater treatment centre and methane recovering system in 2009. It plans to upgrade waste treatment capacity in 2014 as guided by the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province. Truong Hung is also a philanthropist and contributor to local social security. Every year, the firm spends some VND5 billion for charity activities like building houses for people with contributions and sacrifices for national liberalisation, developing scholarship funds, and building the new countryside.

Truong Hung also invested in processing cassava to raise export value. The company plans to send its products to new markets in Europe, South Korea, the United Kingdom and Japan. With its efforts, Truong Hung is expected to become a top manioc producer in Vietnam.
