HanesBrands Aims to Raise Total Investment in Vietnam to Nearly US$55 Mln
HanesBrands (NYSE: HBI), a leading manufacturer and marketer of everyday basic apparel essentials under some of world’s strongest apparel brands, aims to raise its total investment in Vietnam to nearly US$55 million by end of 2015, increasing by over US$11 million compared to that of 2014.
Founded in 2007, HanesBrands Vietnam exports apparel products to critical markets of America, Canada, Japan and China, etc. The Company has built a strong supply chain with three large-scaled modern plants in Khoai Chau, Kim Dong (Hung Yen) and Phu Bai (Hue). HanesBrands Vietnam’s annual capacity reaches 475 million units, accounting for 20 percent of Group’s total production.
HanesBrands Vietnam is not only among the largest knit apparel producers in Vietnam but also largest consumer of U.S yarn in Southeast Asia with over US$1 billion of U.S yarn consumed via its sewing plants. The Company is now generating jobs for over 11,000 local employees and being one of the largest U.S. employers in Vietnam.
HanesBrands Vietnam has seen a continuous growth in exports during its eight years of operation. In 2014, with the inauguration of the third plant in Kim Dong district (Hung Yen), the Company’s total exports surged to US$334 million and the figure is expected to reach US$355 million in 2015.
