The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Ho Chi Minh City and the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has signed the first ever Protocol of Cooperation on March 4 to ensure a strong business framework between the two sides.
The Protocol is expected to facilitate businesses and seek out business opportunities in the two countries in the future.
The agreement follows the visit of the West Bengal Chief Minister Budhadev Bhattachajee to the Vietnamese’s economic hub.
Besides, ICC offered to help Vietnam train industrial representatives in such fields as legal and financial services, environment management, quality management and efficient energy usage.
The ICC also proposed to train Vietnamese industry cadres in areas such as management, legal and financial services, environment management, energy efficiency, quality management, ISO 14000, as well as in the English language.
Significantly, the West Bengal government has proposed to set up an amusement park in Vietnam in a joint venture with a Kolkata-based company. Other Indian corporations offered projects in marine foods and training in information technology (IT).
At the meeting with the city Governor Le Thanh Hai, the visitor stressed that Indian businessmen strongly want to establish cooperation ties with the city in various areas in the future, especially information technology and biotechnology.
In the last two weeks, Vietnam and India organized their 3rd Political Consultative Conference in Hanoi from February 20-21 to promote bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The two countries agreed to work more closely in finance, agriculture, transportation, aquaculture and culture, especially targeting two-way trade of US$1 billion in the near future.
