Hanoi, the second biggest city of Vietnam and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China organized a workshop on March 29 to further promote bilateral cooperation in tourism.

Addressing at the event, the Hanoi Tourism Department, and the Tourism Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region presented their tourist potential and orientations for tourism investment.

"Hanoi and Guangxi in particular as well as Vietnam and China in general have already had good relations in tourism, especially when the communist country and its neighboring nation have recently resumed sea and rail routes, laying a good foundation for closer tourism ties," an official from the Hanoi Tourism Department emphasized.

The foreign province's delegates said they consider boosting tourism with northeastern provinces in Vietnam to promote ties between Hanoi and Guangxi. The province welcomes several tens of thousands of Vietnamese visitors every year.

"We wanted to learn experience in tourism planning, management and personnel training from Guangxi, which is among the top ten provinces in China in these fields," industrial executives from the Vietnamese capital said.

The Chinese province has worked out a plan of action for the next five years, which calls for cooperation in personnel training with some tourist colleges in Hanoi, an official from Guangxi revealed.

Hanoi is emerging as a tourist destination in Asia, especially for tourists from Japan, the Republic of Korea, France, the US, China, and Australia. The municipal tourism service has also worked out a program of action to promote ties with partners in Guangxi.

On March 30, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is expected to launch a tourism promotion campaign in Hanoi.

According to the General Statistic Office (GSO), China posted the highest position among countries with the most visitors to Vietnam in the first quarter of this year with more than 142,600 tourists.
