VCCI Launches Golden-V 2006 Contest
The Golden-V 2006 Contest for the creative design of complete handicrafts and household and decoration products is a general programme comprising of training activities, conferences, exhibitions, marketing and advertisement for the designing of handicraft, household and decoration products. This is the third year in a row the contest has been organised. This year’s theme is Decoration for Quality of Life.
The jury members are senior designers and foreign importers. According to Mr. Pham Huyen Kieu, a jury member, the organisers will invite eight designers from eight countries including Japan and India, Vietnam’s key export markets for concerned products, to join the jury of the final round. This year’s event attracted over 1,500 works compared with 834 works in 2005 and 397 works in 2004.
Winners will be presented with money, cups, certificates and bonuses of sponsoring units and organisers. Winning products will be displayed at the Golden-V Exhibition
According to a study on exported handicraft products conducted by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), two weak points of Vietnamese enterprises are market information and product models. Therefore, an event to gather and display product models at the moment is crucial. According to Mr. Hoang Van Dung, First Vice Chairman of VCCI, the head of the organising committee, the 21st century is a century of quality, product and model design. Enterprises should improve themselves by quality, creativity and attractive model, not low price. He said, we cannot wait for low prices to compete but we can compete with good designs, especially large markets.
The deadline for the registration to the contest is at 17:00 on September 15, 2006 [Friday]. The final round will be hosted on October 21, 2006. The prize-awarding ceremony and the Exhibition will open on October 27, 2006 [Friday].
