The Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) will officially set up the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN BAC) Vietnam on July 6 in Hanoi, said Tran Thien Cuong, Head of the International Relations Department of the chamber.

ASEAN BAC Vietnam will function as a bridge to boost economic cooperation between Vietnamese business circles and those from other countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Cuong said.

It will also act as a supporting organization for local enterprises in the global economic integration process, he added.

The steering committee of the ASEAN BAC Vietnam includes three members, who will be selected by the Prime Minister.

Working regulations and the action plan of the council will be announced by VCCI Vice President and ASEAN BAC Vietnam President Doan Duy Khuong at the opening ceremony.

ASEAN BAC, established in 2001 in Brunei, aims to encourage regional countries' participation in the making of policies relating to economic integration and to promote exchanges and cooperation between businesses from ASEAN countries.
